We have a little announcement

We have been keeping a secret.

I have been knitting a little blue blanket for the last few weeks...

But  I am getting ahead of myself....

The day after we left the hospital with an empty car seat, after Cora's mother's change of heart and mind, we had a phone call with Katie from Purl Adoption Advisory. She asked whether we wanted to take a break or to get back on the lists that we were on.

Tim and I discussed on our drive home how hard it was, but how much harder it would be if we had to do the same thing in a different state. A long time ago when we started pursuing adoption we were advised to "be fearless" and for the first time since then we decided to protect our hearts a little bit better, to narrow our search to only those agencies in Texas at least for the time being. We figured it might take longer, but even so that time would give our hearts a bit of time to mend.

A few weeks later, we got a call from a Texas agency that we were chosen by an expectant momma who wanted us to be her baby boy's family. A couple of weeks after that we got to meet her and her mother and confirmed the match. We decided that we would tell a few family members and close friends, but would err on the side of protecting our hearts and those around us in case we had another failed adoption.

I did get to surprise Tim and Mary with whether she was going to have a "brother baby" or a "sister baby" if the baby's momma decided she wanted us to be his family.

And then we got everything ready.

And on Tuesday, we learned that this perfect little guy was born. We got to spend the last few days in between our Airbnb and the hospital with his first family and yesterday, we made it official.
