Happy birthday to me! Home Study APPROVED!

Dear friends,

Hello, y'all!

I received a very happy email today that is a great big birthday present--our home study is APPROVED!

So, we had our Home Visit and finished all of the paperworking and then waited... and waited... and waited... for Texas to tell our social worker that we are not criminals--but finally it has come to pass that we are ready to present to families making adoption plans.

Over the past several years, we have had the privilege of meeting (electronically or in person) a number of women who have considered adoption, some of whom actually were considering us for their child. Most of those have been through friends or friends-of-friends who passed on our name and information. Most of those have been young women who were considering abortion and needed to hear that adoption is an option. And most of those women eventually chose to parent. Some of them we will never know the end of the story. And some of them, sadly, succumbed to their fear and ended the life growing inside them.

I know the pro-life movement in a new way from these last four years of connecting with women in crisis pregnancy. I feel the fear and anxiety of a life that was not dreamed of or hoped for, but feared. And Tim and I have been able to witness the beauty of walking a young woman from a place of fear and despair to a place of love and excitement at parenting. More often than not, the legitimate option of adoption is that bridge from fear to love. From despair to hope. From abortion to parenthood. It has been a privilege to be that bridge. We will always be happy to be that bridge.

But, we also want our children to have siblings (God-willing) and we are ready and so excited as we move forward in our adoption adventure. Instead of meeting and talking with women who are weighing all of their options, we are going to be presenting to families who have already decided that adoption is what is best for them and their child at this point in their life and are actively looking for a family that will be a good fit for them.

We have decided to use Purl Adoption Advisory to help to connect us with those families. We were just moved from the wait list to being active clients with her today (happy birthday, x 2)! She will connect us with attorneys who will show our profile to expectant parents seeking adoptive families.

So now, we (1) update our profile (2) sign up with attorneys and (3) wait!

Here we go!
