So much to do in so little time
And what a blessing that is!
This past week it occurred to me that it has been just a month since we announced our adoption plan. On that same day we passed the three months to the due-date mark! How incredible all this has been! We've redone some of our paperwork, scheduled new FBI fingerprints, a homestudy, hired a social worker and an attorney and made some travel plans to tour the hospital where the baby will be delivered during our spring break. So exciting and So busy. Not to mention, I got sick and lost my voice last week. Alas!
Another recent benchmark is that we have made it 2/3 of the way to our fundraising goal! I am so grateful for all of the means of generosity and support we have received, but one gift in particular.
It was the night before we bought the tickets to fly out to meet the birth mother who has chosen us for her little one. We had just wrapped up our very excited conversation with our birth mother's attorney and Tim and I were discussing how we could make it work... find chaperones...substitutes... someone to watch Maggie... as we were getting into bed.
Tim's phone buzzed. Looks at phone. Looks at me
Tim: "Did you tell momma about meeting the birthmother?"
Me: "No... we weren't going to until we bought tickets, I thought"
Tim: "Hmm... she must have accidentally texted me, she says 'Whoa'"
... he texts his mother back
Tim: "$10,000?-- we need to check YouCaring"
So we got on our fundraiser page and saw that we had just received an anonymous donation for $10,000. We later have learned that the donation came from a man who was adopted, considered it an incredible blessing and wished to "pay it forward".
We jumped out of bed and immediately started putting the puzzle together. We were up so late we were delirious but our excitement was intoxicating. We both remarked how we felt like George Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life" what a blessing it is to have so many friends.
Later I found out that my MIL checks the website each night before she goes to bed, because it makes her dream of happy things. Whether it is a $25 piece or $10,000 we are getting an inch and a giant leap closer to making our dreams a reality. And it is awesome.
God bless y'all!

p.s. Next-time I hope to show you a little progress on our nursery... we've begun painting, and it is not gender neutral!
